KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.20 g), Babylon, circa 325-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. BAΣΙΛΕΩΣ - AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, star above M; below throne, monogram. Price -, cf. 3630 (without royal title). A splendid lifetime coin, beautifully toned and of wonderful Babylonian style. Light die wear on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
